June 27, 2009:
QECVI has always been a school that "shows its care" in the community. Our students in particular have been involved in numerous initiatives which deal with poverty and social justice. Now, they are prepared to take on another extremely serious issue - hate and those who promote it among young people. Consequently, they are proud to present "The Dervish and The Man Behind The Boots", a play about a neo-nazi who arrives in the ficticious community of "Paradise Falls" and recruits young vulnerable teenagers into his skinhead "family". Serious violence and trouble ensues. The play runs on June 27, 28, at the Wellington Theatre. A poster has been included as an attachment to provide more information. We hope that you will join them and add your voice to those who are concerned about this growing problem in our community. But, be advised that this play is full of violent and hate-filled subject matter, and crude and disturbing language.

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, faith-based organization working for a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. Our mission is to mobilize volunteers and community partners to build affordable housing, and promote home ownership as a means to break the cycle of poverty.  As part of this mission, Habitat for Humanity Kingston & Frontenac will be joining forces with Boston Pizza and former NHLer, Jim Dorey, on June 30, 2009 to raise some 'dough' for the Habitat's 2009 build! Please join our host, former Toronto Maple Leaf, Jim Dorey and the Habitat for Humanity crew on June 30 at the new Boston Pizza at 95 Dalton Avenue between 5-8pm where 10% of sales will be donated to the 2009 Habitat build.  You can also visit the new build site at 930 Division Street to see how your support of this June 30th event will "Build Homes" for deserving, local families.
