Do you own vacant land or own property
in Grenville County? The Grenville Land Stewardship Council would
like to hear from you. Trees for Peace Program is a community-planting
program that educates both landowners and school children on the relationship
of trees and water quality within our shared environment. Children are
given the opportunity to plant native trees and shrubs giving them experience
that will lead to better understanding and in turn a sense of responsibility
for our environment. Professional staff members conduct site visits and
create a rehabilitation plan at no cost. The Trees for Peace Program provides
the trees and wildlife shrubs to rural landowners at a 50% cost subsidy.
In the spring, the program provides a free tree planting service. The planting
of your property can occur as early as the spring of 2009, call now to
avoid being disappointed. For further information call Alison Farmer, Trees
for Peace Coordinator at (613) 342-8528 or by email at alison.farmer@live.ca.

What’s in store for 2008? After the success
of last year’s season, we will be continuing to present two plays, running
in repertory through the summer. Our outdoor amphitheatre is wonderfully
situated to the joyous frolicking of Shakespeare’s romantic comedies, so
in 2008 you can look forward to a double dose of classic theatre with productions
of As You Like It and The Merchant of Venice. New talent will join familiar
faces of past artistic ensembles to perform Shakespeare under the stars!
The festival is at the Kinsmen Amphitheatre in Prescott from July 12 to
August 16.
