| Kingston, Ontario is a
Canadian city located in Eastern Ontario, at the eastern end of Lake Ontario,
where the lake runs into the St. Lawrence River and the Thousand Islands
begin. Kingston is nicknamed the "Limestone City" because of the many historic
buildings built from the local limestone. Fort Henry World Heritage Site
and the Rideau Canal World Hertiage Site are points of interest along with
it's art galleries, museums, libraries, five-star hotels & resorts,
restaurants and retail shopping. Kingston is deep with education home to
Queen's University, St. Lawrence College, Royal Military College and Regional
Correctional Staff College. The Kingston Regional Sports & Entertainment
Centre, the city's new downtown arena branded the K-Rock Centre, hosts
the Ontario Hockey League's Kingston Frontenacs, musical peformances by
Juno & Grammy Award winning recording artists and children's concerts.
In the summer months, Kingston comes alive with it's many festivals including
the Annual Buskers Rendezvous which is held in July and the Limestone City
Blues Festival held in late August. |
