Operation Red Nose, the free holiday designated driver
program aimed at reducing impaired driving on Kingston area roads, returns
for its 12th season. Teams of three volunteers escort clients to their
destination of choice in their own vehicles for free. The program runs
next from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. New Years Eve. Donations are accepted for local
non-profit youth programs. To volunteer or use the service call 613-544-7447

Irish Céilí Dance at St Francis of
Assisi Community Hall, 512 Frontenac St. at 8:00pm. Irish Social Dances

Bottletree Productions is proud to present Gilbert
& Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance; Directed by Kevin Fraser and Musical
Director: Ian Juby (Cats). Bottletree Productions is pleased to be partnering
with Kingston Collegiate and Vocational Institute (KCVI) with this production.
This is the story of Frederic, whose misfortune begins when he is apprenticed
as a pirate instead of a pilot, due to a misinterpretation by his nurse.
Frederic loathes pirating, but is dutiful to his apprenticeship until he
comes of age. As the curtain rises, Frederic is ready to leave the pirate
band and embark upon a new life. This presentation is playing at the Wellington
St. Theatre on December 4, 5,6,7,8 at 7:30pm with a matinee performance
on Saturday December 8 at 2:00pm. The Wellington Street Theatre is located
at the corner of Johnson and 126 Wellington Street. Tickets: $20.00 (adult),

December 17, 2008:
City, Canadian Tire Team Up For Great Skate Exchange. Old Or Unused
Used Skates Can Benefit Children And Youth In Need. The Great Skate Exchange
aims to provide skates - donated by those who are no longer using them
- to those who cannot afford their own. The City and Canadian Tire have
teamed up to organize the program which encourages Kingstonians to drop-off
their old, unused, or out-grown skates at three locations. PRO Kids, the
City-run program which ensures all kids have access to recreational activities
will make sure that the skates find their way to people who need them.
Canadian Tire will sharpen recipients' skates for free and the City will
offer a coupon for a free skate at any City-run facility. Skates can be
dropped off in the Great Skate Exchange Bins from Dec. 17 to Jan. 4, at
Artillery Park Aquatic Centre, 76 Ordnance St. - Canadian Tire, Cataraqui
(Princess Street and Gardiner's Road) - Canadian Tire, Kingston Centre
(Princess Street and Bath Road) - Old or unused skates can also be dropped
off at Market Square on Dec. 31 during the Rockin' at the Clock celebrations,
or at the Great Skate event on Jan. 4, 2008. The JumpStart Great Skate
Event, to be held in Market Square from 1 to 4 p.m., is an afternoon of
skating, hot chocolate and prizes in support of JumpStart, the Canadian
Tire-sponsored charitable organization that serves PRO Kids, the Boys and
Girls Club and the Kingston Family Y. All these organizations help children
and youth access sport and physical activity opportunities they would not
otherwise be able to afford.
