The Annual Tim Mavety Memorial Benefit for Epilepsy
at Brandee's, 178 Ontario Street in memory of Tim Mavety who was one of
Kingston's leading guitar teachers will be held March 1, 2008. A variety
of live performances from 12 Noon until closing time. All-Ages until 8pm,
19+ after 8pm.
March 1, 2008:
The Queen’s Drama Department is pleased to present
Unity (1918) as its winter major production – directed and designed by
Tim Fort (with costumes by Jessica Harrison) – in the Rotunda Theatre in
Theological Hall. With new music written and played by virtuoso fiddler
Roslyn Green and guitarist Chad Yacobucci, the show promises to appeal
to all audiences. Unity (1918) runs until March 8 with evening performances
at 8:00 pm and matinees at 2:00 pm on Sunday (Mar. 2) and Saturday (Mar.
8). Tickets are $12 general admission and $8 for students and seniors.

The Kingston Canadian Film Festival is excited
to announce that director Roger Spottiswoode will be our guest for this
year's Master Class! Roger Spottiswoode is a successful Canadian and Hollywood
director. His body of work includes "Shake Hands With The Devil" (KCFF8),
the James Bond film "Tomorrow Never Dies", "Air America" with Mel Gibson
and Robert Downey Jr., and "Turner And Hooch" with Tom Hanks. Spottiswoode
received a 2008 Genie nomination for Achievement in Direction and "Shake
Hands With The Devil" is nominated for Best Motion Picture; in total the
film is nominated for 12 Genie Awards. In this 3 hour class, Spottiswoode
will present a special screening followed by a one hour in-depth career
discussion. Space for this event is extremely limited. If you would like

2008 Kingston Canadian Film Festival. The Closing
Gala screening of SHAKE HANDS WITH THE DEVIL on Sunday 7:00PM at Empire
Capitol 7 is FREE! Patrons will not require a ticket for this screening.
However, priority will be given to those who hold a VIP Pass. Once all
VIP Pass Holders have been admitted the remaining seats will be filled
on a first-come, first-serve basis. Be sure to arrive early in order to
ensure your seat. Director Roger Spottiswoode, Director of Photography
Miroslaw Baszak and actor James Gallanders will all be in attendance. In
addition, there are still a few spaces available in the Roger Spottiswoode
Master Class set to take place on Sunday March 2nd 12:00PM at Empire Capitol

The Queen's University School of Music and the
Performing Arts Office are excited to introduce the 2008 Faculty Artist
Series. The Faculty Artist Series provides an exciting opportunity for
the University and Kingston communities to hear the talented Queen's faculty
perform outside of the classroom and in concert. The Potsdam Brass Quintet
(Crane School of Music, Potsdam, New York) joins Queen's School of Music
Faculty members Chantal Brunette (trombone) and Dan Tremblay (trumpet)
8 p.m., Wednesday, March 5 at St. George's Cathedral. This performance
is made possible with funding from the George Taylor Richardson Fund. Tickets
for the series is $30 adults, $24 Seniors and $15 students. Single tickets

Series. Peak Oil, Peak Risk with Rick Munroe: Local Farmer and Educator.
As global oil production reaches its peak and begins to decline, the effects
on import-dependent regions may be sudden and severe. Eastern Canada is
one of the most import-dependent regions in the world. This 1-hour presentation
will feature highlights from two documentary films and a power point of

The Second Year class of RMC will be collecting non-perishable food
for the Partners in Mission Food Bank at the following locations in Kingston
locations: A&P (Gardners Rd.), A&P (Princess at Barrie St.), Food
Basics (Barrack St.), Price Chopper (Princess St.) and Bennett's Valu-Mart
(Gore Rd.). 2nd Year RMC students will be there all day. Please give with
generosity for those in need.
