Fort Henry National Historic Site of Canada
heats up Wednesday evenings throughout July and August with historic perormances
unique in all the world! The Fort Henry Guard Drums, Drill Squad and Artillery
Detachment relate an impressively interpreted hour and a half story of
1860's military music, drill and artillery maneuvers. Performed entirely
by college and university students, this perormance invokes patriotism
and pride as they deimonstrate their passion and skill for the craft. The
Fort Henry Guard steward a world-famous tradition that began on July 20th
1955. A tradition known worldwide.Be sure to ask about pre-show options

KGHistory for Kids: A Memory & Mapping
Activity for Young Historians. Suitable for ages 6-12, this 30-minute outdoor
memory and mapping activity is a fun way for children to learn about the
exciting history of Kingston General Hospital. An eye-opening scavenger
hunt includes revelations of plagues, politicians, prisoners, doctors,
new immigrants, a nobleman and nurses, and spans nearly 100 years! Combining
education, entertainment and exercise, the activity takes place mostly
outside, on the picturesque grounds of KGH. Children also peek inside some
buildings of two National Historic Sites, including the first parliament
building of the Province of Canada and the only remaining Victorian-era
operating ampitheatre in the entire country. Working from an activity sheet,
kids test their visual observation and chart their course on a map. Tickets:

Come see border collies from all over North America
compete to round up sheep and become top dog at Kingston's annual Sheep
Dog Trials, Aug. 5 to 7 in Grass Creek Park (between Kingston and Gananoque
at
2993 Hwy. 2). The border collie championship
trials run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily and the Trials' many other attractions
run daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $10 a day or $25 for a three-day
pass. Kids 10 and under get in free. The highlight of the event is an outdoor
screening of "Babe" at dusk, approximately 8:30 p.m., on Friday; bring
a lawn chair and enjoy the film under the stars. This year's Trials' are
made possible with help from: the City of Kingston, the William James Henderson

creative wood works at From the Tree: Designs in Wood, the 2nd annual
show and sale at the MacLachlan Woodworking Museum on Sunday, August 14,
from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. This free event will feature local artisans displaying
and selling hand-crafted goods made of wood, like cedar barrel chairs,
antique wood furniture, red maple bowls, harps, flutes, and more. Demonstrations
and tours will be happening on site throughout the day as master woodturners
exhibit their skills on the lathe, and families can try their hand at paper
making or blacksmithing. Free admission extends to the Museum itself, including
the Log House and new gallery, and all demonstrations, though donations
to the Museum are kindly welcomed. The MacLachlan Woodworking Museum is

The 42nd Annual CORK International Sailing Regatta
begins today at the Portsmouth Olympic Harbour. A new feature during the
OCR period will be the kite boarders running August 20 to 22; the kites
will launch from the grassy area east of the water filtration event and
will race close to shore. CORK wraps up with the offshore and one-design
event, August 26 to 28.
