CFRC 101.9FM opens its doors on Thursday, January
7, 2010 from 12-4pm to celebrate 50 years of broadcasting from Lower Carruthers
Hall at Queen's University. 2010 marks the 88th year of radio broadcasting
at CFRC, which began as an experimental station in 1922. Originally housed
in Fleming hall, CFRC moved down the lane to Lower Carruthers Hall in late
1959. Opening ceremonies for the new facilities were held on January 7,
1960. The upcoming Open House is being organized on the 50th anniversary
of this event and is open to the public; all are welcome. CFRC staff and
volunteers invite you to drop by 62 Fifth Field Company Lane near the corner
of Union and Division, next to thecampus bookstore. Enjoy refreshments

The Relay For Life Kingston 2010 Kick-Off is
being held on January 26, 2010 at the Canadian Cancer Society office, 496
Days Road from 7pm to 9pm. There will be live entertainment, guest speakers,
games and of course a door prize. The prize is called the "Ultimate Relay
Experience" This is a prize pack consisting of special accomodations the
night of Relay, a catered midnight dinner, massage therapists to take care
of you after you walk the track and more items to be determined closer
to the event. To enter this draw you need to register your Relay team on
or before the kick-off. If you register online you get an additional ballot.
There will be computers available at kick-off to register your team. Also,
you can choose your tent site if you have registered your team! So come
out and help up kick-off the 2010 Relay For Life on January 26!

Department of Gender Studies. How are men participating in feminist work
for social change? Scott Morgensen will ask how men - located differently
by race, nation, class, gender and sexuality--can respond to women’s movements
and feminist theory by discussing the arguments of Black feminist writer
bell hooks in her text Feminism is for Everybody (South End Press, 2000).
He invites us to join in a conversation on feminisms and the ways all people,
including men can engage them, in Canada, Kingston, or at Queen’s, and

grow together on Family Literacy Day! On Saturday, January 30th,
Frontneac Mall wants you to brush up on your literacy skills with two fantastic
family activities to benefit Kingston Literacy. Come and join Kingston's
own Juno Award Nominee, children's recording artist, Mary Lambert for a
"Sing for Literacy" Sing-Along. Mary will perform popular songs complete
with costumes, props, humour and audience participation. Email Mary at
