United Way Puts Out Call for Grant Applications.
One-Time Capacity Building Grants are open to charitable community organizations,
both member and non-member agencies. Collaborative Grants are for programs
and services providing unique, collaborative solutions to local issues,
and may also be awarded to agencies for bridge funding or assistance with
emergency situations. Priority Needs Grants are available to agencies with
pressing needs that match United Way’s identified priority areas: Children
and Youth at Risk, The Impact of Poverty and Isolation, Homelessness and
Inadequate Housing, Seasonal needs such as winter warmth and summer food

The Museum of Health Care presents a public lecture
by physician and historian Dr. Jacalyn Duffin, Hannah Chair for the History
of Medicine, Queen’s University. “Medical Miracles: Doctors, Saints, and
Healing in the Modern World” will recount intimate stories of illness,
prayer, and treatment – a woman’s breast tumor melts away; a man’s wounds
knit – exploring how medicine and religion derive meaningful signs from
particular instances of human distress. Duffin’s examination of Vatican
sources on 1400 miracles from six continents and spanning four centuries
recently received the Jason A. Hannah Medal for an important publication

Film Festival at Cineplex Odeon - an all night marathon of movies, popcorn,

United Way serving KFL&A presents Queen's
Science Formal Open House starting 12 Noon on November 7 at Grant Hall
on the campus of Queen's University. A committee of 24 students and the
creative ideas of 600 students will transform Grant Hall into The Ancient
Wonders of the World for the 107th anniversary of the Science Formal at
Queen's University. Doors will be open Noon to 4:00 p.m. with proceeds
from the walk-through going to the United Way. Last year, over 1,000 people
visited the Queen’s Science Formal Open House. Admission is Free,
