| Perth is a town of just
over 6,000 residents in Lank County of South Eastern Ontario. Located on
the Tay River, just 83 km southwest of Ottawa it's a great destination
for sight seeing, shopping and a bite to eat. The town was established
as a military settlement in 1816, shortly after the War of 1812. Many of
the first settlers were military veterans and immigrants from Scotland
and Ireland. Many of the Scottish immigrants were stonemasons; their work
can be seen in many area buildings and in the locks of the Rideau Canal.
Young and old experience the Hertiage Downtown Core of Perth consisting
of dozens of unique stores, boutiques, specialty shops and restaurants,
including crafts, antiques and flea market.. Tourists and residents can
enjoy friendly hospitality at the Crystal Palace, the Perth Farmers' and
Craft Markets, Tay River Gallery, Links O'Tay Golf Course and award winning
