Cajon clinic with renowned hand percussionist
and drummer Dave Tolley (Nine Mile, Xavier Rudd, Berklee graduate). Dave
will demonstrate his Cajon playing and offer instructional tips and tricks
for all levels of players. If you've never heard or seen a Cajon, come
out and see what it is all about. The cajón is heard extensively
in Cuban, modern Flamenco and certain styles of modern Rumba. The Cajón
was introduced into flamenco in the 1970s by guitarist Paco de Lucía.
The modern Cajón is often used to accompany the acoustic guitar
and is showing up on worldwide stages in contemporary music. Tickets: $10
in advance $12 at the door, available at Strum 613-476-7966. Seating is
limited so get your tickets early! Each ticket will enter you into a draw
to win a Cajon and is good for $10 off a the purchase of a Cajon at Strum.
Clinic will run from 10am till 12 noon Saturday, May 8th at JJ's Texas
Grill (Bloomfield); Nine Mile will also be performing at 8pm at JJ's the
same day.
